Traffic Exchange Advertising – Course 202:  What's In Your Core Group?

With the number of new and exciting manual traffic exchanges launching virtually every day, or so it seems, it becomes tempting to add more and more to your list of exchanges you surf.

And there certainly exists valid arguments of trying new exchanges – such as features giving you more credits for less time spent surfing, exceptional downline building tools, cool splash pages to promote the exchange, etc.

But a danger arises when trying to surf too many exchanges in the surfing time you allot for yourself.  And that is…

…you spread yourself too thin, so that you are surfing each exchange less and less as you continue to add new exchanges to surf.

The law of advertising – any advertising – is repeat, repeat, repeat.  Some call it brand recognition or brand awareness.  But whatever you call it, the law is this – you must have your splash page shown to another surfer multiple times before they are, on average, likely to take the action you want them to take, such as click on a link or fill out a form.

A good rule of thumb is seven (7) times – someone needs to look at your page 7 times before doing something.

So…how do we solve this problem?

Solution – set up a core group of traffic exchanges.

What is a core group?

A core group is 3 – 8 traffic exchanges that produce the most results for you.  You surf these exchanges every day, and you surf them the most.  In my case, my core group is 6 exchanges and I try my best to have credits in them (and my pages shown) at all times, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

This is not to suggest you only surf these 3 – 8 exchanges.  By all means surf others, but not at the expense of your core group.  Remember your goal - get your site(s) shown as many times as possible on your core exchanges.

I personally belong to around 30 exchanges.  But I only surf those exchanges outside of my core group when I have time and when I have sufficient credits built up in my 6 core exchanges.  That means on any given week I surf only about 15 - 20 exchanges.  The other 10 - 15 exchanges get surfed perhaps a couple of times per month.

So…how do you know which exchanges should be in your core group?  Test and track.  Then revise, and then track those results.  Analyze those results.  Then, track some more.

You get the idea.

Hey, it's work, I know, but you want your advertising dollars to be most productive, right?

If you're serious about your business, you just cannot guess, you must know for sure.  I use HitsConnect, and I suggest you do, too.

To maximize your traffic exchange efforts and dollars, set up your own core group.  Surf them consistently and persistently.  I think you will be surprised with your results, results derived directly from a basic law of advertising – repeat, repeat, repeat.

Be the best!
