So...What Happens Now?
Did you get burned by the recent and ongoing auto surf industry vs.
StormPay clash? If so, you're not alone.
Look, I don't want to weigh in on the merits of the fight. I'm
not a lawyer, I don't know much about the auto surf programs and I
don't profess to know if StormPay's actions are right either.
But I want to talk about why these programs appeared so popular and
when they go under - as they almost always do - why people become so
surprised and upset.
First, a little dose of reality. It may hurt; I'm sorry if it
does.
People are drawn into the "easy money and no work" concept. I
mean, that's what these auto surf programs promise, right? So
people get caught up in this notion that building an online Internet
business is as easy as 1-2-3, and resembles not at all what it takes to
build a solid offline - or bricks and mortar - business.
Let me tell you from personal experience that to build ANY
successful business - online or offline - it WILL
require:
- time
- hard work
- money
- the guts to be unique and walk your own,
sometime lonely, path
- persistence
- narrow-mindedness
- diversification; i.e., don't put all your eggs
in one basket
- creativity
It's O/K to try schemes like auto surf programs which promise a return
on your money for advertising with them. In fact I have an
account at both StudioTraffic and 12Daily Pro - and I'm not ashamed to
admit it. But unlike some people, my account levels are very
small. If I don't recover my initial deposits, no big
deal. Diversification and experimenting with programs remains a
natural part of doing business.
But what about those individuals who were counting on their payouts as
their only source of Internet business income? So...
What happens now?
Allow me to reprint the fourth autoresponder email you receive(d) from
me when you subscribe to my "eBuilder Solutions Bulletins." It
addresses this very issue. Here are the most important parts of
it:
********************************************
Hi [[firstname]],
Darrell Dean here.
I use manual traffic exchanges to advertise my web sites. No, no,
this note is not about the virtues of traffic exchanges!
These days, it seems all I see is the latest "doubler" business or
"auto surf" program or "PTR" scheme.
It amazes me how most of these programs can continue to grow by leaps
and bounds! What ever happened to common sense and reality?
So stick with me for a moment. I want to tell you something VERY
important.
Below is an excellent article by Graham Hamer explaining "Herd
Mentality. Read it very carefully. This is information you
MUST know and understand.
Here's Graham...
********** HERD MENTALITY **********
It is VITAL that you understand Herd Mentality, not just to protect
yourself against it, but to make use of it in your own Marketing
efforts.
Herd Mentality is the easy-to-understand term for Mass Psychology. And
mass psychology is a subject you must get a basic grasp of, to make
sure you understand what is going on around you.
You'll see it time and time again on the Internet...
A top "guru" does a great job of beating the drum for CashEvolution
and, before you know it, there's a stampede to sign up at $25 a month,
and people are getting trampled in the rush to jump over the edge of
the cliff.
Hey, dry your tears - I was there, too (for a couple of weeks).
CashEvolution couldn't handle the extra business, their servers went on
overload, emails didn't get answered, the New Zealand IRS got involved,
"Mr. guru" pulled out and moved on to promote Guerrilla Marketing
Bombshells, and poor old Joe and Jane Marketer were left with severely
depleted bank accounts, wondering which particular herd leader they
should follow next :-)
Hey, I'm not saying you shouldn't try things out, I'm just suggesting
you take a step back and examine the facts before and after you leap.
If necessary, get out and cut your losses before you are in it too deep
to beat a dignified retreat.
You maybe saw the ads for "KISS" that were flying round the email
system in January 2003. Here's how their ad read...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thought you should be told this TODAY!
YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN...
* FACT 1:
KISS can retire you in 180 DAYS!!
* FACT 2:
1 day to $7
28 days to $5000
180 days to $6 MILLION
.... MONTHLY and AUTOMATICALLY!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Incredible isn't it!!
This heap of unadulterated gibberish was being pushed around by a
company called cyberwincity.com who run lotteries and casinos! (Now
there's a company I'd trust my life-savings with!)
But you know what? HERD MENTALITY caused thousands and thousands
of would-be marketers to believe the line (which I didn't show above)
that said "Everybody's getting on the KISS bandwagon now. Don't
let it leave without you."
And off they all went to give these people $20 a month of their
hard-earned money.
The only people due to make $6 million out of this are the owners of
cyberwincity.com, who are probably right now comatose on a white-sand
beach in the Caribbean!
How is it that normally sensible people can get drawn into something as
transparently dumb as this?
The answer lies buried in our self-survival system. It's a
deep-rooted desire not to get left out.
As humans, we share many common traits. No matter what nationality,
color or creed, the fear of loss almost always outweighs common sense
(Join KISS or everybody else will make money from it and you won't.)
And it's a key principle of your Online Health Check to understand
these triggers so you can use them effectively in your own marketing.
The first nine words on my bull-free-zone website are "DON'T GET LEFT
BEHIND!" - "YES! You, Too, Can Discover..."
Notice the triggers... "get left behind" and "you, too"
Already the reader is beginning to suffer a sense of loss! What is it
that other people already have or know, that he/she doesn't?
And I set that trigger in the very first sentence!
Also, by understanding these Herd Mentality triggers, you can build a
shield with which to protect yourself when faced with someone using the
same technique on you.
Start today...
Mentally dissect all the adverts you come across. Ask yourself
the simple question, "Are these claims realistic?"
Forget the schemes that have no product (of value). "Get ten more
people to sell our rubbish report, and we'll give you an extra rubbish
report", does NOT qualify as a product! You should look for serious,
quantifiable, products.
Forget the claims of how many other people have already joined this
scheme. They're probably not true anyway.
Forget the insistence on how you should do it before the price goes up.
It's a lie.
Forget the mathematics of full matrixes. To fill a 9x9 matrix, you
would need to sign up 387,420,489 people! There's about as much chance
of that as there is of winning a national lottery without buying a
ticket. Every man, woman, child and baby in USA would have to sign up
under you 1½ times to fill that matrix!
Forget the statistics. Remember what Benjamin Disraeli, the British
Prime Minister is quoted (by Mark Twain) as saying... "There are three
kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics."
Just ask yourself the simple question...Does This Make Sense?
When you ask yourself that simple question, something as dumb as "KISS"
becomes a put-it-in-the-trash-no-brainer doesn't it.
That's not to say that "KISS" or any scheme like it isn't going to pay
you some money but, if the owners are prepared to bullsh*t you on that
grand scale, they clearly don't rate your intelligence too highly.
Mostly, schemes like this are just looking for idiots who will send
them their money (and wonder why their bank account is growing
smaller!). The only winners are those who get in very early, which
includes the owners, of course!
People who join these matrix-based (read: pyramid) schemes at the end
of their (usually short) lifecycle get burned!
The problem is, you never know if it's nearing the end ... so best stay
away altogether!

Let me end this article by saying this – shortcuts almost never work in
the long run. Here's what I recommend:
- Grab a hold of a solid business-building program like
MPAM
- Learn the ropes of becoming a successful affiliate
marketer from my mentor Jim Straw
- Gain the knowledge to build your own web sites and
splash pages from Jim Edwards
It’s up to you.
Let my bulletins and periodic emails be your guide to those products,
services and programs you need to build a successful, solid and
long-lasting Internet business, ready and able to withstand any storm
that comes your way!
Be the best!
