"A man of character in peace is a man of
courage in war. Character is a habit. The daily choice of right and

not suddenly developed in war."

Trafficera: The Dawn Of A New
Age?
Much has already been written about the launch of Trafficera, Logiscape's
newest traffic exchange. (Logiscape also owns TS25, Traffic Pods
and Hit Pulse.) Debates sprang up in the forums and elsewhere
about how the new exchange was rolled out, and the features it offers
its users.
To that end, I won't bore you with re-hashed arguments in this
Bulletin; rather, let's review some of the underlying messages we can
take away from the Trafficera launch, and
how we can use these messages to our advantage.
First, let's look at how the exchange was launched.
Unlike most traffic exchange launches, Trafficera was launched
"piece-by-piece." At first blush, this is a strange tactic.
And, yes, it did piss off quite a few members who had money in hand but
could not spend it.
They reported they did it this way because the exchange is so unique
and so jam-packed, they wanted their new users to take their time
learning about its features and benefits one step at a time. Not
a bad objective, really, although perhaps a bit naïve. But...
...the controversy they created because of this new tactic got everyone
and their dog talking about Trafficera, didn't
they? So...perhaps not so naïve after all...
You see, creating some controversy in your promotions can actually be a
good thing. A good debate to get people talking can create some
tremendous traffic to your new site.
The downside is you must carefully manage the negative words and
thoughts being expressed. Left unchecked they can do you more
harm than good. The best way to combat this is to ensure you
launch an exceptional product or service to begin with. But then
again, why would you launch anything less than that? But I
digress!
Second, Trafficera
is not just a traffic exchange. Logiscapte is expanding their
reputation on being leaders by incorporating a ton of Web 2.0
features. Examples include your own Blog, team chatting while
surfing, team competitions, etc.
So why is this important?
Because Logiscape understands the importance of social
networking. They've certainly done their homework and have
carefully devised a site that promotes Web 2.0 as a more viable
commercial application than perhaps you or I thought possible.
So...what's the message here for us?
If we thought social networking had limited commercial viability, think
again. Trafficera has just
given us a great example, or a template if you will, for us to use in
our own online businesses. We can leverage off of their efforts
and start to incorporate some of their ideas into our own sites.
The other message for us affiliate marketers and traffic exchange users
is that we may need to re-think the design of our splash pages and even
devise new ways to advertise within this new exchange.
For example, how do you promote xyz product on our Trafficera
blog? Do we need to include a tie-in between our splash pages and
this blog?
The possibilities appear endless!
The bottom line: don't let Trafficera's strange
launch tactics detract from the real advertising power this new
exchange offers us. Be creative, create some fun, unique
campaigns, and learn what you can about Web 2.0 – it's here to stay!
Be the best!
