Do These Headlines
Scare You?
Stop
the press – recent headlines from news items or reports:
"Ford
To Cut Workforce By One-Third."
"The
Death of AdSense…"
"5
More Subpoenas Served in HP Case."
Question – do these
types of headlines scare or concern you? Should they?
I'm sure to some degree they affect us all in one way or another.
But since you are, at this moment, reading an Internet Marketing
newsletter, I can only assume you wish to earn money through various
online activities. And if that assumption is correct, then the
above headlines should, at the very least, concern you.
Why?
Because change is quickly happening all around us. And unless we
know how to handle change, we can become paralyzed, confused and
negative in our attitudes.
And yet this is also a time for positive action. Perhaps we can
reach out to those "one-third" Ford workers and help them find
financial independence. Through our own online efforts we can
teach others how to achieve their goals without the aid of "Corporate
America." We can provide leadership to those less fortunate.
The other day I read the following quote:
"You
earn a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give."
Not sure who originally wrote it, but isn't it fantastic!
Scott Boulch's recent report called "The Death of AdSense" and
subsequent ebook called "Life After AdSense" caused many people to
panic – oh my gosh, Google is dead, now I must find the next bandwagon
to jump on!
Rest easy, Google AdSense is not dead, and never will be. Google
makes billions of dollars each year from contextual advertising, and
therefore, needs both an advertiser (AdSense) and a seller
(AdWords). In fact, if one reads Scott's reports thoroughly, you
will understand he is not saying AdSense is really dead. What he
is saying is that, in his opinion, the amount of money one can make
with AdSense has dropped considerably since Google changed the rules.
And is Scott's proposed switch from AdSense income to CPA (Cost Per
Action) income the "next bandwagon?" Moving up the food chain as
he calls it? I guess time will tell.
And what do we make about the scandal at HP (Hewlett Packard)?
Are top executives not to be trusted anymore? Spying on members
of the Board of Directors' private lives is a pretty serious
offense. Is the corporate world really in that bad of shape?
Earning a living through online activities can sometimes shelter us
from bad corporate management, but we do not operate in a vacuum and
therefore we must be aware of outside influences. My experience
tells me to look for positives and opportunities when times get rough.
But how do we weather the bad times? I've said it before, but let
me say it again: build a
long-term, sustainable online business that is well diversified.
The basic components include:
- Clear, specific and measurable business and personal
goals (personal goals should incorporate well-defined self-improvement
processes)
- Proper and relevant education strategies, relative to
the types of revenue streams involved in your business (must have more
than one to be diversified)
- Effective time management capabilities
- Appropriate and relevant measurement processes
- Ongoing business improvement strategies
Of the five components above, the first two are the most
important. To be successful at anything, you must set measurable
goals.
Additionally, you must properly educate yourself – and, this is not a
one-time thing, it must be continuous.
For example, if you want to become a top-notch affiliate marketer, you
need to know how to perform keyword research, select relevant products
and services to promote, build web sites and/or landing pages, market
your sites and establish your own mailing list, just to mention a few
activities.
Scary headlines need not be scary – if
you establish an online business with a solid foundation.
Develop a positive and giving-to-others mindset. And above all
else, do what you love. By doing so, you can avoid the next big
bandwagon peaking around the corner and operate an honest, reputable
business that even the biggest corporation in the world, with their
corrupt and incompetent management, would envy.
Be the best!
